What is the radius of the incircle of the triangle whose sides measure 5, 12 and 13 units?

1. 2 units
2. 12 units
3. 6.5 units

5. 7.5 units

The correct choice is (A) and the correct answer is 2 units.

The triangle given is a right angled triangle as its sides are 5, 12 and 13 which is one of the Pythagorean triplets.

Note:

In a right angled triangle, the radius of the incircle is given by the following relation

As the given triangle is a right angled triangle, radius of its incircle = = 2 units.
